New Law : Foot Binding

Now the latest thing in season, foot binding. No more large, grotesque feet. Now with foot binding, your feet with be small, dainty, and in the shape of a lotus flower, the way they should be.

Foot binding sounds comlicated but it is in fact simple, but very delicate. Go to a professinal foot binder, give heer/him you or are daughter's feet, then they will simply bend the toes back, just enough to snap those worthless bones in the toes. Then, a long, and large cloth will be wrapped tightly aaround the feet so that the toes will not un-bend themselves and heal the bones inside.

It is now the LAW that you bind your feet so thank the Gods that it's fashionable! Nowadays no man in their right mind (unless they were poor) would marry a women with un-bound feet. If you are planning to marry or wed your daughter, GET YOUR FEET BOUND. Good luck

Pocelian, The New Glass

Along with our latest discovery, cotton, farm women have discovered how to make a soft, light, transparent glass with elaborately painted designs of dragons and such. Absolutely beautiful and decorative. We've interviewed one of the women, (with permission from her husband) about how they've discovered this unique item:

Q: Thank you for speaking with us today. Can you tell us how you made this?
A: You're welcome. I cannot stay very long, my husband expects me back. I must make tea.

Q: Yes alright, but can you tell us exactly HOW you created this glass-like object?
A: Women like me were working out in fields. Cooking, cleaning, tending to the children. The women form it using kaolin, and then it is fired at very high temperatures to make it hard.

Q: Interesting. How long did the whole process take you?
A: I do not know the exact number but it took us from the rise of rosy fingered dawn to black velvet night.

Q: So basically about 24 hours correct?
A: Yes, about 24 hours.

Q: What do you do with the finished product?
A: Traders trade it with people from Europe and the Middle East and India, some sell it to rich aristocrats to use it to decorate their homes.

Q: Thank you very much for your time, but there is one more question.
A: I suppose I can spend one more minute. What is it?

Q: What do you plan on calling this marvelous new ... glass?
A: Porcelain, we have named it porcelain.

Q: Thank you very much Mrs. Wang, we appreciate it
A: You're very welcome, but I must go now.

Thank you reporter for that informational interview. So there you have it, how this new glass, excuse me porcelain, is made.

Fashionist Profile

Ok so for all you fashionistas out there, we’ve got some real treats in clothing and fashion. The gǒuzǎiduì caught Empress Wu wearing a silk lǐpào before heading off to the market. So, for all you ladies out there, dǒupengs are so out, nowadays, begin sporting a lovely silk lǐpào with a pair of embroidered shoes, only for you ladies with BOUND feet, and put your hair up, preferably with a golden clip with jade on the outside. Your lǐpào should be made of softly woven silk, with gold trimmings, all of course, in the color red for those of you with sons.
Of course we most certainly remembered you fashion-loving men out there. Emperor Gaozong has also been spotted sporting a long robe,( made of the finest silk, gold, diamonds, and jade) embroidered slippers,(patterns of dragons most preferably) and extra long sleeves with heavy rocks to weigh them down, making them look fancy and regal. Don’t miss out on your chance to be with the “in” crowd. As for you farmers, stay with your comfortable look of short wool pants, hay shirt and straw hat. Although for you more capable farmers, there is a brand new type of material you may like to try, it’s called cotton. It’s comfy, breathable, and warm for those of you working up in the north.

Empress Wu Conquers

Two weeks ago, Emperor Gaozu was proclaimed to be extremely ill, and on his death bed. His family crowded around him, upset by his condition, but anxious to see who he would choose to succeed him in ruling the Empire.

While that was going on, the family heard a blood-curdling scream. It was Empress Wu.
" She was on the floor, sobbing, her beautiful silk robe stained with mixture of tears and blood. In her arms, she was holding her new-born child, a girl. Her eyes were closed and her face was as blue as the summer sky. Empress Wu was weeping so hard, her body shook." Young prince Li Xe said. The Empress, Emperor Gaozu's concubine, accused the Emperor's wife of the crime, of slaughtering her daughter.

Emperor Gaozu was unaware of all this as he was unconscious during the discovery.

"Bless his heart, he does not know anything that happened, Empress Wu said weeping. It was his wretched wife! He promised me I could decided what to do with her, and i have."

The Emperor's wife's arms and legs were amputated the following day.
Wu is now the new Empress. She took over the throne from Emperor Gaozu's son after his death, she appointed her son as emperor, and then she took over herself.

When asked about the change, some peasant farmers answered briskly;
"This Empress is incredible. She's powerful, cunning, and much better than that silly Emperor we had before, that Gaozu! I'm extremely happy he's gone and she's here instead of him!"

The empress became Empress after she amputated the wife of the Emperor. Investigators were on the case, to see if someone else took part in this tragedy. here's what they said:
"We believe, after conducting some research, that the wife of late Emperor Gaozu was not the killer at all. In fact, we believe it to be Empress Wu herself who killed her child and framed the Wife for it. But we dare not say anything. She is Empress now."
Besides the fact of her becoming empress, some of the princes in the royal court, the sons of the Late Emperor, have decided to rebel against this new em[press. They attacked yesterday night, and were found this morning hung.
" The Empress is clearly not someone you'd like to trifle with. But she isn't bad. Quite the contrary, she's generous. Just stay on her good side and all is well."

Li Shimin Mastermind Behind Sui Downfall

Young Li Shimin, son of Old Emperor Gaozu, announced today in his royal court that it was HE, not his father, who had masterminded the overthrow of the Sui dynasty and brought the Tang dynasty into the present so many years ago. Some 10 years go, when he had announced that his father would be resigning and that he and his brother would be debating who would take the throne, Li Shamn said he would do “Whatever it takes” to gain control.

Now it seems as though Li Shimin has gotten what he desired. His brother has mysteriously been killed and some of the officials investigating the case have thought it to be Li Shimin who had killed his brother. Despite the possible violent means that he acquired the throne, young Li Shimin, now known as Emperor Taizong, is beginning to prove to all of us that he is becoming a very wise and powerful emperor.

Now with his brother out of the way, Taizong has made some drastic changes to our government, officials say. He is said to have appointed Sui officials as officials in the Tang dynasty. Just yesterday he went out to some of the old royal family, the family of the Sui, and took a few of their old and worthy officials as officials for the Tang dynasty. “This will force both dynasties to respect and honor one another,” he said yesterday in an interview. “The Sui is long gone. We are now in control of the mandate of heaven. But we can honor each other and demolish any revolts if we show them that we are willing to compromise and become the better person.”

Will Taizong’s idea work? Not according to some officials, who say it is rumored that there will soon be a revolt, in an effort to seize the mandate of heaven for the Sui once more. Taizong, on the other hand, is trying harder than ever to maintain peace in his Empire.

Besides the rumor of revolution, the trade business is gaining more and more goods, and we have been exposed to more and more incredible goods such as luxury chairs, which are collapsible. They've also been trading our porcelain for horses, which have proved useful for entertaining the royal court.

All and all, the country has been shocked quite enough, with the hidden discovery of Taizong being the true mastermind behind the overthrow of the Sui dynasty, and conquering the throne. Hopefully, there are no more surprises in store.
